ARTFUL AFTEROONS

Watercolour Painting for All Levels
Students will complete exercises in composition, texture and tone while learning how to manipulate the watercolour medium. Through a series of demonstrations, the instructor will share his mastery of paint mixing, brush work and colour theory.

Instructor Peter Lam studied art at the Hong Kong Academy of fine Arts where he majored in watercolour and oil painting. After graduation, he has taught at the Academy of Fine Arts, the Hong Kong Art Centre and the Art Club of the Hong Kong Polytechnic. His paintings reflect the influence of John Singer Sargent and William Merit Chase. He has exhibited in several group exhibitions, and won the Ceramics Sculpture Award presented by the Philippe Carriol Foundation in 1987.

Drawing for All
This course is designed for those with minimal experience with drawing, or those who want to brush up on basics. Students will experiment with a variety of drawing tools and techniques and develop their understanding of visual perception.

Instructor Hida Behzadi holds a B.A. in Visual communication and a M.A. and in Graphic design and has extensive professional experience in drawing and painting. She has studied drawing and painting with fine art masters in Tehran where she gained considerable insight into depicting still life and the human body. She has exhibited her work in several group exhibitions in London, Toronto and Tehran. Hida enjoys teaching drawing to students from all levels and loves to instil the joy of drawing in them.

Follow this stimulating course which places great artists from Leonardo da Vinci to Judy Chicago in a cultural context. Through slide-illustrated lectures, be guided as you appreciate the art of men and women from a variety of geographic regions and artistic styles. Explore a vast array of artistic periods from the Renaissance to the late 20th Century.
